Academic Excellence Facilitator

NOIC Academy is seeking a highly qualified OSSD Secondary Teacher to join our team at our Markham, Ontario campus.
As an Academic Excellence Facilitator, you will be responsible for creating engaging and challenging learning experiences for students in grades 9-12. Your role will involve preparing teaching materials, evaluating student progress, and implementing effective strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mathematics and hold a Bachelor's Degree with a major in the subject. A Qualification of OCT (Ontario College of Teachers) is preferred, but not required. We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching and learning, and has excellent organizational skills, high proficiency in technology, and strong communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Learning
- Prepare teaching materials according to an approved curriculum
- Evaluate student progress, determine individual needs, and implement strategies to meet those needs
- Motivate and engage students to learn with creativity
- Exercise good classroom management to ensure a fair and orderly environment
- Apply different strategies in a consistent manner to fulfill course contents and objectives
- Apply appropriate resources in teaching and learning
Safeguarding & Student Communications
- Create a safe learning environment that enables students to take challenges
- Identify special learning support needs and provide additional academic assistance
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
- Provide advice and assistance to students on academic issues
- Encourage students to confidently and freely ask questions in learning
- Create an environment of mutual respect that fosters a global mindset
- Assist students in taking responsibility for their own actions by assisting them with realistic goals
- Communicate with mentors by providing updates on student learning progress
Administration & School Support
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and development
- Attend and help organize events for students, parents, or the wider community
- Support and implement school operations in all areas
- Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
- Support and participate in school induction activities for new teachers
- Attend school meetings as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with a major in Mathematics
- Qualification of OCT preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the current OSSD grade 9-12 curriculum, assessment, evaluation, and reporting expectations
- Excellent organizational skills
- High proficiency in applying technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Strong communication and multi-tasking abilities
