About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Professional to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in the quarterly and annual close process, financial statement preparation, and legal entity reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completion of various month-end validation tasks using financial systems to ensure accuracy of balances;
  • Preparation of journal entries, and running the consolidation process in Business Planning Consolidation (BPC) which is the basis for our public financial statements;
  • Preparation of financial statement notes and coordinating inputs for Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) for external reporting;
  • Coordinate and consolidate quarterly analyses;
  • Process review and proactive continuous improvement;
  • Liaise with external auditors including preparation of responses to quarterly questions;
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and follow-ups;
  • Perform ad hoc financial accounting analysis and financial reporting as required;
  • Involvement in quarterly testing of reporting internal controls (C3); and
  • Other duties and special projects, as required.
Requirements
  • Enrolled and working toward an Accounting Designation;
  • University degree in Finance or Accounting;
  • Ability to work with a positive attitude and in a professional manner;
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, changing environment;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Detailed-oriented person;
  • Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Strong Excel skills; and
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and be a dedicated team player.
