Job Title: Procurement and Sub Contract Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize the delivery of equipment, materials, supplies, and services for quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Prepare and issue RFQ documents to qualified vendors and negotiate best price, delivery, terms of payment, and purchase conditions.
  • Collaborate with Aecon's Operations personnel to ensure timely receipt of goods in SAP and track deliveries and return of rental equipment.
  • Analyze internal third-party agreements and manage the lifecycle of purchase order activity.
  • Participate in the evaluation of suppliers across all pertinent vectors of supplier performance.
  • Understand and adhere to all of Aecon's policies, particularly to the procurement and safety policies.
  • Provide reporting and analysis on procurement activities, variances, and impacts.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience within a purchasing department in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques, practices, and ethics.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of contract law, negotiating business agreements, and laws of requesting tenders, proposals, and quotations.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and be service-oriented.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry and internal clients.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products.
  • Attention to detail, mathematical, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
