The Royal Alexandra Hospital is a leading healthcare institution in Alberta, serving a diverse community with a wide range of programs and services. As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will be part of a dynamic team providing respiratory care to patients in Adult Floors and ICU.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Respiratory Therapist I to join our team. The successful candidate will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans, and monitor progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions, and will collaborate with clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients and develop respiratory therapy care plans
  • Implement and monitor respiratory therapy care plans
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes
  • Provide training and assist healthcare providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment
  • Educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment, and treatments

Required Qualifications:

  • Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
  • Graduate from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy and eligible to write, or have passed, the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC)
  • Maintaining current active registration in good standing with CARTA throughout the duration of employment
  • Maintaining current basic life support (BLS-HCP) certification and providing proof of active certification annually

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current acute care experience in a tertiary teaching hospital
  • Orientation to the position's major and minor clinical areas
  • Current charge therapist experience
  • Experience precepting students
  • Developing quality initiatives and implementing practice change
  • Active participation on committees
