Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Respiratory Therapist I to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing respiratory therapy care plans, and monitoring patient progress. You will work collaboratively with various clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes and provide training and education to healthcare providers and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients and develop respiratory therapy care plans
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes
  • Provide training and education to healthcare providers and patients
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals

Requirements:

  • Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
  • Graduate from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy and eligible to write, or have passed, the National Respiratory Certification Exam as administered by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC)
  • Maintaining current active registration in good standing with CRTA throughout the duration of employment
  • Maintaining current basic life support (BLS-HCP) certification and providing proof of active certification annually

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current acute care experience in a tertiary teaching hospital
  • Orientation to the position's major and minor clinical areas
  • Current charge therapist experience
  • Experience precepting students
  • Developing quality initiatives and implementing practice change
  • Active participation on committees
