About the Role


We're seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our team. As a Legal Assistant at Travelers, you'll be responsible for providing administrative support to our attorneys, including preparing legal documents, managing case files, and coordinating with experts and witnesses.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Composing various legal documentation, such as pleadings, discovery, and subpoenas;
  • Reviewing incoming mail and working with attorneys accordingly;
  • Providing telephone assistance, including answering routine questions;
  • Maintaining and reviewing attorney calendars daily;
  • Inputting and maintaining all case file information into the case management system;
  • Acting as a liaison with experts and witnesses in scheduling/coordinating appearances, depositions, medical examinations, and other court-designated hearings;
  • Retaining court reporters and interpreters, if necessary;
  • Assisting with trial preparation;
  • Recording billable time when applicable;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:



  • A minimum of three years of experience as a legal assistant;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with court personnel, other attorneys and their staff, clients, witnesses, and outside vendors;
  • High proficiency in MS Word, MS Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • High proficiency with the usage of a case management system and other software applications;
  • Strong knowledge of trial procedures;
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, local court/jurisdiction rules, and adherence to law office procedures;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of office files and records;
  • Ability to manage time and multitask effectively and display problem-solving skills by developing methods or approaches to getting the work done;
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and changing priorities;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
