About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team at the Palliser School Division. As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs and providing educational instruction to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide educational instruction and support to students with special needs, including assisting with accessing technology and developing individualized program plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement effective learning strategies and programs.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and involve them in the development of individualized program plans.
  • Facilitate and encourage the development of students' self-esteem and independence through established programs and techniques.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students in the school and community, including maintaining close supervision and responding to challenging behaviors.
Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate or recognized vocational certificate in child care/development or behavior management, with demonstrated successful practicum experience working with students with special needs.
  • Other equivalent combinations of directly related education and experience may also be considered.
  • Experience in an inclusive learning environment is an asset.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificates are required.
