Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a tenure-stream faculty member in the Department of Geography at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and will have the opportunity to contribute to our dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop courses in the Planning Program, including core and elective courses
  • Supervise graduate students and maintain an active research program
  • Provide academic leadership and contribute to departmental and university service
  • Collaborate with colleagues to advance the mission of the Planning Program
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Planning or a closely related field and a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths and contribute to the aims of our Planning Program's Mission.

Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in research, which can be demonstrated through high-quality scholarly publications, engagement in international scholarly networks, presentations at significant conferences, and documentation of research collaborations. They must also provide evidence of excellence in teaching, which can be demonstrated through a teaching philosophy statement, teaching evaluations, and strong letters of reference.

Preferred Qualifications

Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) with the requisite Registered Professional Planner designation is an asset. Professional or practice-oriented experience in the applicant's area of expertise is also considered an asset.
