Intermediate Mechanical Engineer (MEP)

Distinctive HR Group Inc is seeking an experienced Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our mechanical engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, and mixed-use high-rise projects.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Work independently on specified scopes with minimal supervision required.
  • Provide coaching and delegate design tasks to junior team members.
  • Mentor and supervise Mechanical Designers and review their work prior to submission.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Perform load calculations using company-provided software.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to select mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents in AutoCAD or REVIT.
  • Review and revise own work for errors and omissions.
  • Assist with contract administration, including shop drawing review and RFI responses.
  • Participate in design and construction meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering and accreditation as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng. or PE).
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing design is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, air handlers, and fire protection.
  • Knowledge of current codes and standards, including local plumbing and building codes.
  • Understanding of building heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Proficiency in software programs, including Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and REVIT.
