We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Orthotic and Prosthetics Technician to join our team at Health PEI. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide technical expertise in the design and fabrication of orthoses and prostheses, ensuring maximum fit, function, cosmesis, and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise in evaluation, treatment planning, individualized design, custom fabrication, implementation, and maintenance of devices to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function.
- Monitor treatment plans and report observations to the Orthotist/Prosthetist, including patient comments, responses to intervention, etc.
- Incorporate critical thinking, problem-solving, knowledge of best practice, and effective communication to deliver high-quality care to patients.
- Participate as a team member in patient care, demonstrating effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
- Document patient information on electronic health records.
- Set priorities and demonstrate flexibility and effective use of time to multitask between daily duties and meet service requirements for multiple patients and services.
- Maintain awareness of safety issues related to patients, staff, and caregivers.
- Maintain equipment and inventory of supplies, identifying equipment that needs maintenance, repair, or replacement.
- Contribute to data collection and workload measurement statistics.
- Collect client and service information.
- Perform administrative and other related duties.
- Grade XII completion.
- Diploma/certificate from a recognized Orthotic & Prosthetic Technical Program, including completion of a supervised technical internship.
- Good manual dexterity and proficiency in using specialized technology, tools, and equipment necessary to the role.
- Ability to maintain currency with technical advances and participate in continuing professional development activities.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Good organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good previous work and attendance record.
- Current criminal record check (including vulnerable sector search) prior to starting employment.
This is a full-time position with a salary range of $39.17 per hour. The successful candidate will work 75 hours bi-weekly, with overtime, evenings, and weekends as required.
