Job Responsibilities:

  • Assess and monitor residents' health status
  • Develop and implement care plans based on individual needs
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Provide wound care and manage medical equipment
  • Educate residents and their families on health management
  • Supervise and coordinate care provided by other healthcare staff
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid
  • Document residents' medical histories and progress

Requirements:

  • Have one of the following qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BScN), Bachelor of Nursing degree (BN), or Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience as a visiting nurse, visiting registered nurse, visiting registered practical nurse, and/or community nurse considered an asset
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
  • Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
  • Clear Vulnerable sector check are required upon hire
  • Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
  • Excellent problem solving, time management, and crisis resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car. The position requires daily travel of more than 1 hour, so 100% must have a vehicle.
