Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Disability Overpayment & Recovery Specialist to join our Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing, investigating, and reconciling disability claims overpayments and recoveries. Your expertise will help us navigate complex legal case precedents and relevant legislation to ensure accurate and timely recoveries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and investigate disability claims overpayments and recoveries, reviewing correspondence, researching and reviewing wage loss payment history, and performing manual calculations.
  • Interpret legal case precedents and relevant legislation to ensure accurate and timely recoveries.
  • Negotiate settlement amounts with lawyers and payment arrangement schedules with clients or members in accordance with established practice and parameters.
  • Represent Pacific Blue Cross and its entities at Small Claims Court as required, preparing documentation and evidence, filing notice of claim or lien, and negotiating settlement and/or payment arrangement with clients within parameters established with Team Leader, Collections.
  • Generate monthly reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • 3 years previous related experience in collections administration, including demonstrated experience in disability insurance claims collections, or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of a Financial Accounting course (36 hours) or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Business Law course (36 hours) or equivalent.
  • Completion of an Intermediate Excel course (18 hours) or equivalent.
  • Completion of an Intermediate Word course (18 hours) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Intermediate Word and Intermediate Excel, typing 40 wpm, keystroking 10,000 ksph, and math.
About the Position

This is a temporary, full-time contract position for 12 months, with a starting wage of $33.09 per hour. The position is unionized and part of the CUPE 1816 Bargaining Unit.
