Job Title: Senior Estimator

Job Summary:

Kiewit is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for developing detailed cost estimates for large, complex projects. You will work closely with our estimating team to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates are delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs, including highways, bridges, mass transit, and hydroelectric power generation projects.
  • Supervise estimators in the preparation of check estimates for other work and review estimates prepared by other estimating groups or JV partners.
  • Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and develop a plan for the actual construction.
  • Conduct site investigations to identify any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present.
  • Utilize engineering techniques and procedures to conduct investigations and adhere to standard company policy and procedures.
  • Perform design work as required by the project and handle any major technical problems encountered during bid preparation.
  • Stay abreast of trends and developments in the industry, such as new equipment, methods, and procedures.
  • Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction-related technology, or extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills, and abilities described above.
  • 7 to 10 years' related experience, including experience with infrastructure projects such as highways, mass transit, hydro power generation, heavy civil, and/or concrete structures.
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with various estimating software systems and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset, as mobility across provinces in Canada is required.
