About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Kiewit. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in examining, analyzing, and interpreting contract documents to develop detailed and comprehensive cost estimates for large and complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complete estimates for large-scale complex projects
  • Supervise estimators in preparing control estimates for other projects, review estimates prepared by other estimation groups or partners to determine the exhaustiveness of data used and procedures, and assist in resolving differences in bid items
  • Examine plans and specifications to thoroughly understand the project, develop a construction plan that will serve as the basis for estimation
  • Examine all bid documents and contracts, as well as legal advice from headquarters
  • Conduct site investigations before preparing a project execution plan to identify any unusual problems or conditions that may be present
  • Use engineering techniques and procedures to conduct investigations and adhere to company standard policies and procedures
  • As needed, perform project design tasks outside the scope of the estimator's expertise; resolve technical problems encountered during bid preparation
  • Remain up-to-date with trends and developments, such as new equipment and emerging procedures in the industry
  • Prepare special engineering studies or reports necessary for certain articles or conditions of a bid
  • Consult with owners regarding various problems discovered during bid preparation, during design, regarding rates, hours, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
  • More than 7 to 10 years of experience in the field
  • Excellent knowledge and proven experience in infrastructure projects: highways, public transportation, electricity generation, large civil engineering works, and concrete structures
  • Ideally, experience in construction and autonomy
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience and solid skills in numerous estimation software systems
  • Demonstrate mastery of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered an asset as mobility between Canadian provinces is required. Courses may be offered as needed.

  • Work regular business hours to organize and complete work within scheduled deadlines. Work overtime and work weekends as needed
