We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Dental Assistant. As a key member of our dental team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic.

Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, preparing them for treatment, and assisting dentists during procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the dental area, performing routine maintenance tasks, and providing oral health education to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for treatment by obtaining medical histories, taking vital signs, and explaining procedures
  • Assist dentists during procedures by passing instruments, suctioning saliva, and taking X-rays
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the dental area by disinfecting equipment, disposing of waste, and restocking supplies
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as sterilizing instruments and cleaning the dental unit
  • Provide oral health education to patients by demonstrating proper brushing and flossing techniques

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have a certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting program and be registered with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA). You should also have recent experience with intravenous sedation, CPR Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification, and a minimum of two years of recent dental assistant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) certification and cross-cultural competence are assets. Experience in operative services and a sound working knowledge of GOLD electronic medical record systems would also be beneficial.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $45,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
