About This Opportunity

Mud Creek Medical Clinic, a collaborative practice in New Minas, Nova Scotia, is seeking a part-time physician to join their team. The clinic is a part of the Nova Scotia Health Authority and offers a unique opportunity for a physician to shape their practice and work in a team-based care environment.

The clinic has a diverse range of services, including primary care, minor procedures, and referrals to nearby hospitals and community health centers. The electronic medical record system used is Med Access with Pomelo for online bookings and appointment reminders.

As a physician at Mud Creek Medical Clinic, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of healthcare professionals, including family practice nurses, a social worker, and an OTP Clinical Outreach Worker. You will also have the opportunity to participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities, and to work towards same-day or next-day access for the practice population.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.
  • Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice.
  • Continuum of patient care with healthcare providers within your practice and/or community.
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare.
  • Build to capacity within the first two years.
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Work towards same-day or next-day access for the practice population.
  • Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community's health needs.
  • Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations.
  • Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements.

Expected Hours

  • Part-time with option to move to full-time hours.

Qualifications

  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • All family medicine physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
