Duties

  • Provides administrative and clinical management presence during evenings, nights, and weekends to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Serves as the point of contact for interdisciplinary teams, other departments, and external stakeholders related to patient care.
  • Responds to emergencies and deploys staff as needed to maintain patient safety.
  • Ensures efficient utilization of human resources to maintain safe staffing levels.
  • Coordinates inter-agency patient flow and access to beds in collaboration with staff.
  • Ensures work is performed within hospital policy, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversees and evaluates nursing care to promote improved patient outcomes.
  • Coordinates emergency response and monitors CSIF reports for all shifts.
  • Collaborates with other managers of clinical programs as needed.
  • Assists in the recruitment and disciplinary actions for direct reports.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and support to employees through performance reviews and attendance management.
  • Contributes to operating and capital budget development of programs.
  • Ensures a safe work environment that adheres to The Royal Mental Health Centre's policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is mandatory.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required, with a Master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Ability to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario is essential.
  • CPMHN(c) certification is an asset.
  • Recent leadership experience and a minimum of 3+ years of clinical experience in acute care are required.
  • Membership in a professional nursing or other related organization is preferred.
  • Completion of NVIC or equivalent and CPR certification within the last 12 months is required.
  • Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation is necessary.
  • Basic computer skills are required, with proficiency in the RAI-MH system.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and superior interpersonal skills are essential.
  • English language proficiency (A- level) is mandatory, with bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset.

Salary Range: $58.26 to $63.66 per hour
