Job Title: Team Leader Medical Underwriting

Medavie Blue Cross is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader Medical Underwriting to join our team. As a key member of our Client Solutions department, you will be responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team that handles the Medical Underwriting of individual and group benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of Medical Underwriters, providing guidance and support to ensure the team meets productivity and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
  • Analyze individual and team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process changes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other team leaders to ensure consistent business practices and processes.
  • Represent the team at various meetings and hold regularly scheduled team meetings.
  • Work closely with external partners, including Blue Cross Life Chief Medical Underwriter, paramedical services, and physicians.
  • Participate in annual Medical Underwriting audit activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of operational experience, with 2-3 years of leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service, verbal/written communication, and strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and be flexible to changing priorities.
  • Microsoft knowledge and strong computer skills, with knowledge of Salesforce and other workflow tools an asset.
  • Bilingualism an asset.
