At Fasken, we are seeking a highly skilled Patent Agent to join our dynamic Intellectual Property team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Canada and abroad, as well as providing written opinions on patentability and patent validity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in Canada and abroad
  • Provide written opinions on patentability and patent validity
  • Participate in strategic processes related to innovation, intellectual property, and due diligence
  • Perform technical and legal analyses of patents and handle patent litigation cases

Requirements

  • Patent agent registration with the College of Patent Agents & Trademark Agents (CPATA) or at least four (4) years of experience in the field
  • Undergraduate degree in pure or applied sciences, such as mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field
  • Graduate degree in science, such as a master's degree or a PhD, is considered an asset
  • Lawyer registration with the Barreau du Québec is also considered an asset
  • Fluency in both French and English is an important asset
