Job Title: Patent Agent

About the Role:

This role will primarily require you to draft and carry out patent applications in Canada and abroad, prepare written opinions on the patentability of inventions and the validity or infringement of patents, and participate in strategic processes associated with innovation, intellectual property and due diligence in the field of intellectual property relating to commercial transactions.

  • Draft and execute patent applications in Canada and internationally;
  • Prepare and provide written opinions on the patentability of inventions and the validity or infringement of patents;
  • Participate in innovative processes related to intellectual property and due diligence in commercial transactions;

Key Requirements:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the field as a registered patent agent with the College of Patent Agents & Trademark Agents (CPATA), or equivalent qualifications;
  • An undergraduate degree in pure or applied sciences, such as mechanical engineering, physics or any other related field;
  • A graduate degree in science would be considered an asset; this includes a master's degree or a PhD;
  • Licence as a lawyer registered with the Barreau du Québec would also be considered an asset;
  • Fluency in both French and English, which is an important asset for our firm.
