Job Summary

The Field Service Technician will perform mechanical and electrical service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines ranging in power from 0.35 to 4.5 MW, running on natural gas or various other gases. This includes commissioning, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and overhaul.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in a safe manner, adhering to company HSE policies.
  • Execute service on engines in compliance with the maintenance protocol, including oil checks, filter replacements, and valve maintenance.
  • Carry out minor repairs on engines beyond planned service.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to execute major service on engines, following the major service protocol.
  • Troubleshoot engines in electronics and mechanics.
  • Generate service reports detailing reasons for visits, symptoms, actions, materials used, parts, hours, results, and follow-up actions.
  • Process timesheets, expense reports, Health and Safety forms, and job reports in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Service Manager to develop repair strategies for accurate customer quotes.
  • Maintain and develop positive professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Participate in internal and external training courses for career growth and development.
  • Be available for on-call rotations for after-hour calls as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' field service work experience.
  • Valid Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic, Natural Gas Compression, Automotive, or Millwright Certificate.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to drive long distances.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of engines, generators, controls, and balance of plant is an asset.
  • High voltage, non-diesel generator, automation, and controls, or PLC control experience is an asset.
  • Ability to use computer technology and SAP experience is considered an asset.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Clean driver's abstract must be provided at time of hire.
