Job Summary:
San Angelo ISD is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Bus Driver to transport students to and from schools and other designated locations. The ideal candidate will have a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License with all school bus driving endorsements and a strong commitment to ensuring the safe and orderly transportation of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate school bus to transport students and other authorized personnel to and from schools and other designated locations.
- Ensure the safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned route or trip.
- Inspect bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving.
- Report any hazardous conditions along the route.
- Communicate with teachers and parents on a daily basis regarding student behavior.
- Maintain discipline and report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License with all school bus driving endorsements
- Bus Driver Certification
- Ability to pass alcohol and drug test
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
- Ability to operate bus
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed indoors, outdoors, and in bus or vehicle
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, hot and cold temperatures, moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals
- Frequent in-district travel; occasional statewide travel; occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged sitting; frequent climbing, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting/crouching, crawling, pushing/pulling, twisting, reaching
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
Professional Growth and Development:
- Attend and complete required training program to maintain safety certification
- Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and special events as assigned
