About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our dynamic team in the Adult Mental Health Outpatient Program. In this full-time temporary position, you will be responsible for providing client-centered assessments, short-term structured counseling, and support services for individuals and groups.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling to clients using CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Brief Structured therapies.
- Lead Anger Management group counseling sessions.
- Support and adhere to hospital and college policies and procedures.
- Perform administrative duties, including record-keeping, data collection, and other tasks as required.
- Participate in the education of staff, students, and the larger community as agreed upon with your manager.
- Assist in developing and maintaining effective linkages with hospitals, mental health services, family physicians, and other stakeholders.
- Attend relevant committees and staff meetings.
- Conduct in-depth intake and initial assessments of clients and their systems using various measurement tools and sources of information.
- Maintain accurate documentation and statistics according to NYGH standards.
- Consult with other service providers to promote continuity of care for clients.
- Participate in research and evaluation activities.
- Provide supervision to students.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or a related discipline.
- Current membership in a regulated professional college or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in mental health.
- Experience providing CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Brief therapies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated clinical competence.
- The ability to establish and maintain relationships with hard-to-reach clients.
