We are seeking a skilled Loss Control Specialist to join our team at Verisk. As a Loss Control Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing residential properties to identify potential risks and hazards, and providing recommendations to reduce the frequency and severity of losses.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule appointments with clients to conduct on-site assessments of residential properties
- Travel to properties to assess for risk features, take photographs, and review features such as fire prevention systems and heating equipment
- Assess building construction, electrical, heating systems, and plumbing installations to ensure proper installation and code compliance
- Identify and report on structural defects, fire hazards, and other threats to safety
- Converse with property owners to understand the history of the property and answer any questions they may have
- Prepare detailed reports using internal systems to identify construction and equipment details, risk assessment, and replacement cost value
- Education in insurance, construction, home inspections, real estate appraisals, or engineering
- Experience with building codes, residential construction, building restoration, or as a home inspector
- Excellent computer skills, including database use, typing speed and accuracy, and word processing
- Bilingual, English and French
This role requires extensive travel within a region, with a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle. You will work autonomously and remotely, with most work completed from home.
