Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide a broad range of nursing functions and direct care to clients with complex needs related to psychiatric disability, addiction, and past trauma. The LPN will work under the direction of the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, to implement the delivery of trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric and physical assessments, crisis interventions, and medication administration
  • Facilitate group sessions and provide individual support to clients
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
  • Provide education and support to clients on mental health, addiction, and trauma-informed care
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses and ability to maintain full practicing license with the BCCNM
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Criminal Records Clearance from the BC Ministry of Justice
  • Proof of full Covid-19 immunization
  • Tuberculosis Clearance
  • Immunization Records
  • WHMIS Certificate

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Good understanding of mental illness, addiction, and trauma-informed care
  • Ability to work with clients with complex needs
  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation principles and strengths-based model
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and concurrent disorders
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse clients, including Aboriginal clients
  • Knowledge of housing issues and community resources in Metro Vancouver

Shift Rotation and Schedule

The LPN will work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and nights, to provide 24/7 care to clients.
