We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Nicola Lodge Care Community.
Job Summary:The Licensed Practical Nurse is a critical role within our community, impacting the lives of residents and igniting the warmth of human connection. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician's orders, and the resident plan of care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician's orders, and the resident plan of care.
- Ensure the supply, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics.
- Create a comfortable and safe environment that provides opportunities for privacy, dignity, autonomy, independence, and individuality.
- Optimize each resident's potential to achieve or maintain maximum functional ability.
- Seek direction from the RN when resident need exceeds experience or scope of practice.
- Exercise sound nursing judgment by reporting any change in resident's status in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse as necessary.
- Foster an atmosphere that is conducive to the provision of optimal care and the effective functioning of the assigned resident home area.
- Liaise with medical team members, nurse specialists, consultants, and support effective clinical care for all residents.
- Continually assesses his/her own nursing practice and learning needs.
- Participate in and attend in-service programs provided by the community as well as conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Document priorities, target dates, and strategies or interventions on the individualized care plan.
- Diploma in Practical Nursing.
- Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC.
- Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per Ministry of Health requirements for AIS.
- Current First Aid with CPR.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicant.
- Long Term Care Experience.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a leveling rate of pay $41.35 per hour until such time that wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates starting rate.
