Cultural Heritage Specialist / Lead - Environmental Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled Cultural Heritage Specialist/Lead to join our Environmental Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on cultural heritage matters to our clients.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heritage planning, conservation, or a related field, with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in cultural heritage. You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and finalizing cultural heritage reports;
  • Bidding and proposal preparation;
  • Client management and business development;
  • Representing Egis at industry events;
  • Collaborating with other departments to promote and educate about Cultural Heritage services;
  • Maintaining positive client relationships.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree/diploma in heritage planning, heritage conservation, or a related field;
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated Cultural Heritage experience;
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP);
  • Qualified cultural heritage professional as defined by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM);
  • Ability to work independently and grow a team as Cultural Heritage Lead;
  • Proven experience writing winning proposals and executing on those projects;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international, federal and provincial heritage legislation and best practices;
  • Experience providing advice and guidance for heritage related matters for a variety of stakeholders;
  • Experience completing historic property research, built heritage surveys, cultural landscape surveys, heritage inventory, determining impacts on the historic environment, and designating properties under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act;
  • Experience writing and completing heritage reports, including Existing Conditions and Preliminary Impact Assessments, Cultural Heritage Assessment Reports (CHAR), Cultural Heritage Evaluation Reports (CHER), Heritage Impact Assessments (HIA), Documentation and Salvage Reports, conservation plans, cultural heritage landscape studies, and other heritage reporting to fulfil requirements under the Planning Act and Environmental Assessment Act, including MCEA, MTO Class Environmental Assessments (EA), and Conservation Authority Class EAs;
  • Experience and familiarity with municipal heritage planning processes, including heritage permit applications, working with property owners, municipal heritage committees, developers and municipal Councillors to best achieve heritage objectives;
  • Experience organising, designing and facilitating public consultation, outreach and educational materials;
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write and review heritage reports including CHR/CHARs, CHERs and HIAs;
  • Experience using a variety of computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Excel).
