About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Director of Legal Operations to lead our efforts in safeguarding landlord investments. As an integral member of our founding team, you will be responsible for verifying landlords, managing legal filings, administering the rent guarantee process, and spearheading organizational and product development initiatives.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Verify Landlords: Conduct thorough verification of landlords through land title and property ownership documents to ensure the integrity and security of our platform.
  • File LTB Notices and Applications: Prepare and file all necessary legal documents, including Ontario's LTB forms (N4, L2, etc.), to support landlords in legal proceedings.
  • Administer Rent Guarantee Process: Oversee the administration of our rent guarantee process, ensuring timely and accurate payouts to landlords.
  • Dispute Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for dispute resolution, liaising with tenants, landlords, and our paralegal team to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Develop Processes: Collaborate with our team to develop and refine processes that transform the overall landlord and tenant experience on our platform.
  • Product Development: Work closely with the founding team to blend legal requirements and user feedback into our app – making sure it meets the needs of landlords.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with all parties involved in the renting process, providing updates and support as needed.
Your Requirements
  • 5+ years of legal or paralegal experience: Preferably within the real estate or property management sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of landlord-tenant laws and regulations: In Ontario and across Canada.
  • Proven track record of managing legal processes and documentation: Including filings with the Landlord and Tenant Board.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills: With the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities: And the capability to make sound judgments under pressure.
  • A passion for real estate and property management: And a commitment to supporting landlords in protecting their investments.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: And a willingness to take on diverse responsibilities as a founding team member.
