Laboratory Assistant

About the Role:
As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in the specimen collection process, ensuring patients receive high-quality care. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, explaining the collection process, and preparing specimens for transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and request required information from patients, ensuring they follow necessary test protocols.
- Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
- Collect special test specimens, such as medical/legal drug screens and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
- Maintain client relationships, responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
- Complete data entry of patient demographics, requisition information, and other relevant details.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
Requirements:
- Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience in phlebotomy, intravenous infusion, and/or intravenous therapy.
- ECG training or experience is an asset.
- Proficient data entry skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and effectively relate to patients and healthcare providers.
