Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Driver to join our team at Atria Retirement Canada - Riverheights Terrace. As a Driver, you will provide safe and courteous transportation services to our residents, while also assisting with various community activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive vehicles from the community to social events and other destinations according to assigned schedules.
  • Assist residents into and out of vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Secure passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to prevent movement during trips.
  • Practice safe driving techniques at all times.
  • Clean and service vehicles, including fueling, lubrication, and accessory maintenance.
  • Maintain records of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Deliver groceries and other belongings to residents' apartments.
  • Assist the Engage Life Department with activities and programs as needed.
  • Ensure accurate submission of community travel expenses.
  • Maintain a safe driving record according to company guidelines.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide basic first aid.
  • Report potentially hazardous conditions to the Executive Director.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • At least five years of driving experience and knowledge of vehicle preventative maintenance programs.
  • Commercial driver's license to operate commercial size vehicles.
  • Able to operate a seven to sixteen passenger bus, limousine, or car, as well as wheelchair lifts, dollies, and hand trucks.
  • Experience with vehicle emergency repairs, including tire changing and minor on-road maintenance.
  • Familiarity with local streets within an 8-mile radius of the community.
  • Position requires driving responsibilities and may involve using company-provided vehicles or personal vehicles.
  • Must meet and comply with Atria's Motor Vehicle Record Policy standards.
