Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our interdisciplinary team at Edgewood Health Network Inc. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, evidence-based treatment programs to individuals struggling with mental health and addiction issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to identify their unique needs and develop personalized care plans.
  • Provide treatment management, guidance, and administer medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Implement client care plans, including ongoing health teaching and education.
  • Administer medications to clients, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress records, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
  • Orientate, facilitate, and reinforce client involvement in addiction treatment.
  • Decide and initiate action in case of medical emergencies.
  • Provide supportive counseling to clients, families, and/or significant others on typical recovery issues.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment on the unit, conducive to client learning and growth.
  • Coordinate individual client appointments and referrals.
  • Actively participate in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of client care.
  • Assist the public with crisis intervention and information on addiction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nursing Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training or Completion of a recognized Advanced Care Paramedic program.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Advanced Care Paramedic registered in the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • Current basic CPR certification.
  • Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Leadership/Charge experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting.
  • Knowledge of/experience with a team-based person-centered care approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
