About the Role
Torstar Corporation is a leading media organization with a rich history in newspapers and a passion for innovation in digital and mobile media. We are seeking a skilled Journalist to join our Editorial Department on a 12-month contract, focusing on City Hall reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Report and write authoritatively on breaking news, providing perspective and analysis
- Collaborate with colleagues to produce stories that are accurate, comprehensive, and engaging
- Develop and maintain contacts and sources, skillfully interviewing people in demanding situations
- Meet deadlines and produce high-quality content
Requirements
- Professional experience as a reporter
- Advanced journalism skills with a keen interest in current affairs and civic issues
- Excellent news judgment, storytelling, and multimedia skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong writing and communication skills
