Manager, Shelter and Respite Services

The Shelter and Respite Services Manager will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of programs and services aimed at building community, enhancing housing stability, and improving the quality of life for clients. This role requires a strong leader who can work collaboratively with management from other departments and programs to enhance current services and improve program delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that foster community engagement and social cohesion.
- Manage relationships with community stakeholders, including TCHC, neighbourhood groups, and local organizations.
- Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, and manage a team of qualified staff to deliver high-quality services.
- Administer the collective agreement and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
- Program Delivery
- Oversee the Shelter and Respite Services team to deliver effective services to clients, tenants, and communities.
- Ensure team compliance with all relevant legislation, company policy, and procedures.
- Manage the Shelter and Respite Services budget and expenditures.
- Partnership Development
- Develop and implement partnerships with support agencies and community organizations.
- Liaise and develop initiatives with stakeholders and partners to enhance program delivery.
- Human Resources
- Directly supervise staff assigned to the program site.
- Ensure qualified job applicants are selected and vacancies are filled in a timely manner.
- Organizational Effectiveness
- Work with the management team to identify community development goals and implement work plans.
- Chair or participate in relevant committees and activities to enhance program delivery.
- Education
- Post-secondary degree in social sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in social services, preferably with individuals facing housing instability.
- Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluency in a second language is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to achieve desired outcomes.
- Strong organizational and administrative ability, proficient in various computer applications.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Capacity to operate under pressure.
- Experience with community resources and quality improvement.
- Ability to engage collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of evaluation and research software.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong ability to exchange knowledge.
- Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-directed and independent, with experience in collaborative work.
