Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at Sika Canada Inc. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for preparing monthly inventory provision files, determining inventory at risk, and following up on action plans with operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly MIS reports and reporting to management
  • Reviewing purchase and production variances on a periodic basis and taking necessary actions
  • Ensuring completion of production orders at month-end by coordinating with plants and completing process orders for all factories
  • Quarterly review of standard costs and mass cost rollup for active items, distributing new standard cost files to EVPs
  • Ensuring cost roll-up activities are conducted as needed
  • Creation and extension of item codes in the Material Data Governance (MDG) portal, costing, and maintenance of inventory master data, managing it centrally for Sika Canada
  • Developing yearly factory rates based on capacity planning and implementing in SAP
  • Ensuring costs are set up properly whenever new codes are created or extended
  • Reviewing and monitoring data governance websites to correct cross-functional master data
  • Attending Local Expert Team (LET) meetings, participating in product code creation processes as needed
  • Monitoring product creation cycles within requested timelines
  • Analyzing and resolving cross-functional costing data issues
  • Visiting factories as needed
  • Handling audit queries for costing and inventory items
  • Providing necessary costing information to the Operations/Sales team as required
  • Working with Factory Controllers to resolve costing-related issues
  • Assisting Factory Controllers and LET with cost estimation for new project launches or R&D activities
  • Participating in Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis annually to determine codes to be discontinued when required
  • Providing support in new SAP projects
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Working indoors in office and home office environments with air conditioning and heating as applicable
  • Ergonomic workspace provided
  • Conversing by phone and email consistently for full work shifts

Qualifications

  • University degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in costing and inventory data management
  • Working knowledge and experience with MS Excel and ERP systems, specifically SAP
  • Working knowledge of monthly reporting files in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and solve problems individually and with interdepartmental collaboration
  • Bilingual in French and English an asset
