Job Title: Tenant Support Worker

About the Role:

The Tenant Support Worker is a vital member of our team, responsible for providing support and guidance to residents in our housing community. This role requires a strong understanding of Indigenous histories and cultures, as well as the ability to work with marginalized and diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to residents with daily tasks and activities
  • Monitor residents' ability to maintain their suite and arrange for supportive services as needed
  • Assist residents in connecting with community support services, such as mental health programs and social services
  • Help tenants maintain their housing through individualized life skill programs and referrals to relevant organizations
  • Monitor visitor flow and ensure visitors sign in/out
  • Deal with emergencies and perform administrative duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Indigenous and at-risk communities
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Crisis Intervention, Naloxone Administration, and Conflict Resolution Training are considered assets
  • Basic First Aid Training Certificate
  • Criminal Record Check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous histories and cultures in Canada
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing Indigenous and marginalized people in an urban setting
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer systems, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, including police, fire, and ambulance
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain professional boundaries
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
