As Director, Tax Services, you will report to the Corporate Controller and play a pivotal role in managing the company's income tax and commodity tax functions. Your expertise will ensure compliance with Canadian, US, and international tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and compile tax information for filings and reporting
  • Reconcile accounting and tax liabilities/systems
  • Prepare and compile tax schedules for Canadian, US, and international tax returns
  • Review tax issues with Advisors for accurate filings
  • Maintain the schedule of large assessments for the company
  • Initiate and review tax payments to minimize negative impacts
  • Maintain records and ensure timely tax filings
  • Review assessments for accuracy and respond accordingly
  • Represent the company with Government and regulatory agencies
  • Oversee the filings of GST, HST, PST, QST, US State, and other applicable taxes
  • Work closely with external accountants to review any relevant tax assessment issues

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 8-10+ years of experience in tax consulting or industry, including experience with cross-border tax planning and international direct tax management
  • Excellent technical skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet modeling, word processing, tax return preparation, and tax research
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to non-tax professionals
  • Detailed knowledge of Canadian tax legislation, case law, guidance, and best practices
  • Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Professional Accountant designation, with completion of an In-Depth Tax program
