Job Overview

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join their Ultrasound team at Squamish Hospital in Squamish, BC. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - Vascular Ultrasound, you will perform a range of ultrasound examinations, observing patient safety practices and supporting your team by receiving and completing requisitions, entering relevant data into the diagnostic imaging information system, preparing patients for specific procedures, and conducting examinations utilizing ultrasound and Doppler techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts ultrasound examinations, adhering to established protocols and standards.
  • Support the Ultrasound team by performing administrative tasks, such as receiving and completing requisitions, and entering relevant data into the diagnostic imaging information system.
  • Prepare patients for specific procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the examination process.
  • Conduct examinations utilizing ultrasound and Doppler techniques, applying knowledge of anatomy and pathology to produce high-quality images.
  • May perform venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed by the Radiologist/Cardiologist.
  • Participate on committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography and be certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for Sonography procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
