Job Overview


The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) organization is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join the Ultrasound team at Squamish Hospital in Squamish, BC. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will perform high-quality diagnostic sonography procedures and provide exceptional patient care.

Salary Range: CAD $45.89 - $56.08 per hour.

About the Role


As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with VCH, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Performing ultrasound examinations for various medical conditions, ensuring accurate diagnoses and patient safety.
  • Supporting your team by receiving requisitions, entering data into our diagnostic imaging system, preparing patients, and conducting examinations using ultrasound and Doppler techniques.
  • Maintaining aseptic techniques and safe work practices when operating diagnostic equipment.
  • Participating in committees, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Collaborating with healthcare staff, physicians, and external agencies to ensure seamless patient care.


Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography, along with certification from Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Knowledge of sonography procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Proficiency in operating related equipment and utilizing computerized client care information systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
