Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory therapy, including assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and providing support initiating/maintaining mechanical ventilation support of adults, children, and infants.

Detailed Job Description

The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, deal with others effectively, organize and prioritize work, operate related equipment, and possess physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities include maintaining documentation by ensuring reports, records, and workload statistics are complete and accurate according to established departmental standards. Additionally, the candidate will participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals, therapeutic/diagnostic strategies, and program-related issues.

The Respiratory Therapist will also be responsible for monitoring and performing required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation, and quality control of respiratory and related equipment, reporting supply needs as required, and maintaining relevant logs/reports.

Other key responsibilities include participating in quality improvement activities such as developing, implementing, and evaluating written procedures and standards, developing assessment forms and patient materials, and program descriptions as required.

The successful candidate will provide in-service education as required, participate in meetings and departmental committees, contribute to problem identification and resolution, and participate in Respiratory Therapy student education and various in-services for staff and the community as required.
