The Shop Foreman is a key role within the Next Level Group, responsible for overseeing the direct supervision of in-shop and field service and repair of machines and equipment. This includes the preparation of new and used equipment, warranty repairs, and ensuring all policies and procedures are enforced as specified in company manuals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Direct inspections of components and equipment for repair needs as required.
  • Communicating with the Service Writer and/or equipment owner to obtain approval for work to be done.
  • Ensuring jobs are completed within the allotted time.
  • Conducting quality inspections once repairs are completed.
  • Assisting the Service Manager in scheduling technicians to work orders to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Discussing detailed work orders and work order allocation with the Service Manager/Service Writer on a daily basis.
  • Providing direction and/or solutions to service technicians as required.
  • Monitoring work orders and technicians regularly throughout the day to ensure the work order is proceeding as planned and to provide technical guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Several years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a relevant trade.
  • Journeyman/woman trade certification in a relevant trade.
  • Experience working on construction equipment is an asset.
  • A good working knowledge of equipment operation and mechanical functions.
  • Shop floor management knowledge.
  • Strong diagnostic skills.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting principles.
  • Supervisory and management training in related fields.
  • Leadership skills in a specialized repair environment.
  • A solid understanding of pricing principles and discounting effects.
  • Working knowledge of shop layout.
  • Good computer and systems knowledge.
