About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Clinical Psychologist to join our interdisciplinary team at the East Coast Forensic Hospital. As a member of the team, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy services to patients within the psychiatric inpatient rehabilitation unit.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in violence risk assessment, personality, and cognitive skills, as well as experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and providing treatment through individual and group settings.

About You
  • You must hold a recognized MSc in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university program.
  • Registration with the NSBEP is required, or eligibility for registration.
  • A minimum of two years' relevant clinical experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a forensic inpatient setting and violence risk assessment training/experience is a significant asset.

The ideal candidate will possess maturity and ability to work effectively with resistant and challenging client groups. Self-directed practice, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, is essential.

Job Requirements
  • Provide psychological services to patients within the psychiatric inpatient rehabilitation unit.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of violence risk, personality, and cognitive skills.
  • Provide treatment through individual and group settings.
  • Participate in the predoctoral internship program and supervise practicum students.
  • Testify before the Criminal Code Review Board of Nova Scotia.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $37.31 - $49.05 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. The benefits package includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
