About the Role:

Tillicum Lelum Aboriginal Society is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Counsellor to join our team. As a Clinical Counsellor, you will provide holistic trauma-informed counselling and advice to individuals struggling with substance abuse, mental health, and other related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally appropriate support services to clients
  • Focus on specific mental health and substance abuse issues defined by the individual
  • Provide short-term direct intervention to address critical needs and decrease barriers to services
  • Attend regular meetings with a multidisciplinary team to ensure compliance, accuracy, and quality of clinical documentation
  • Collect data as per contract agreement and adhere to reporting requirements/measurements of success using provided tools
  • Assist with therapeutic approaches to mentorship, mental health support, and system navigation

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care as it relates to addiction and mental health
  • Ability to counsel clients and patients individually and in group sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies and making changes
  • Proficient knowledge of applicable principles of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice
  • Referral skills to community resources to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness
  • Master's degree in counselling, psychology, or related social service field
  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to submit driver's abstract
  • Strong people skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
