Job Title: Project Superintendent

BA Blacktop Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Superintendent to lead our construction operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Safety Standards

  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC Regulations and company safety programs.
  • Participate in Pre-Job Hazard Assessment and First Aid Assessment.
  • Develop and implement Safety procedures for specific job tasks.
  • Perform monthly safety tours and review project safety reports.
  • Identify and communicate potential hazards with foremen and crews.

Project Management Responsibilities

  • Review contract documents, scope of work, drawings, and specifications.
  • Participate in bid handover meetings and pre-construction meetings.
  • Prepare and give necessary information to foremen.
  • Optimize and schedule project resources.
  • Direct and coordinate construction operations.

Planning and Coordinating

  • Communicate and implement the project schedule with foremen and sub-contractors.
  • Lead/organize/give specific instructions to the site foremen.
  • Organize necessary field aspects for the work site.
  • Prepare project schedule and maintain a 3-week look-ahead schedule.

Quality of Work

  • Ensure compliance with the quality control plan.
  • Ensure Quality Control Testing is scheduled as per project requirements.
  • Verify quality requirements are met.
  • Address/Correct all deficiencies as early as possible.

Training and Development

  • Lead, monitor, train, and develop site foreman and crew members.
  • Ensure workers have received proper training prior to completing specific tasks.
  • Perform bi-annual appraisals for all direct reports.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of road construction activities and specifications.
  • Good understanding of Contract Documents.
  • Self-starting, highly motivated, and goal-orientated individual.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and public.
  • Organized, detailed, and prepared by planning ahead.
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with stressful situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans/blueprints and look up specifications from MoTI/MMCD.
  • Good Computer Skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, Kheops, and Bluebeam.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Public Works Course (BCIT).
  • Construction Management Courses.
  • Civil Engineering Diploma/Degree.
  • Registered with ASTTBC.

Location: North Vancouver
