Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your skills in a production environment? We are currently seeking an experienced Optimization Engineer - Plastics to join our team at our injection moulding plant facility located in East York, ON.

About the Role

The primary focus of this role is to analyze and optimize our plastic injection molding processes while ensuring optimal production efficiency, quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with company safety standards.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $35 - 39 per hour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate current cycle times of injection molding machines and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce cycle times without compromising product quality.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to mold performance, machinery, and materials that impact overall efficiency.
  • Monitor and record processing data, including cycle time, machine utilization, and downtime, to analyze trends and drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality, mold shop, and production teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of process changes, optimization efforts, and results to support quality assurance and compliance standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to setup and process technicians on best practices for process optimization and machine operation.
  • Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that optimized processes maintain the highest product quality standards.
  • Ensure that all optimization activities comply with company safety standards and industry regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in a Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering-related field and have proven experience working with plastic injection and/or blow molding.

A strong analytical and problem-solving skillset, along with proficiency in injection molding process parameters, machinery, and mold design, is essential for success in this role.

Working Conditions

This role requires spending almost 100% of time in the plant environment, involving varying degrees of moderate physical labor, standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing light objects. The work environment may expose the incumbent to heat, dust, and noise levels.
