Strategic Financial Analyst

Established in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution recognized under provincial legislation. We welcome over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually, serving over 6000 clients through nine Career Centres across the province.
The Strategic Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in promoting SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate by ensuring effective and efficient department operations. This position oversees financial analysis and reporting, creating an environment that supports the institute's success.
Key Responsibilities:
This Senior Financial Analyst position requires expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and submitting reports, claims, and invoices for various programs
- Conducting analysis of program expenditures, revenue, and funding as assigned
- Ensuring compliance with funding agreements and policies
- Assisting in preparing funding submissions to provincial and federal agencies
- Compiling data for regulatory and funding reporting requirements
- Supporting the annual external financial audit, preparing reports, and providing additional support as necessary
Analytical Thinking and Leadership:
This role demands strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and problem-solving capacity. The successful candidate will lead quarterly financial outlook and forecasting processes, implement the annual financial planning process, manage ongoing reporting against the annual plan, and analyze general ledger accounts.
Internal Reporting and Control:
- Supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes
- Preparing journal entries and adjustments to records, files, and statements as required
- Addressing financial inquiries from internal and external clients
- Training and communicating processes and procedures to applicable SIIT budget managers
Required Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in accounting or business is required, along with a minimum of six years of accounting and reporting experience. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data management, pivot tables, and chart presentation, are essential. A professional accounting designation and knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be considered assets.
Salary: Estimated $80,000-$110,000 per annum, based on location and industry standards.
