Cost Estimator Role at Mace

We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator to join our Consult business, where you will play a crucial role in unlocking the potential in every project. As a Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for creating accurate cost estimates, analyzing project costs, and developing unit cost pricing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creates cost estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations at all levels of project development.
  • Performs quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals.
  • Obtains accurate and up-to-date pricing information for databases, contractors, suppliers, etc.
  • Inputs estimate take-off information for specific discipline and develops unit cost pricing.
  • Works with designers and engineers to develop a clear understanding of project scope preparation of estimate.
  • Assists senior staff in ways to make projects more efficient.
  • Maintains project documents such as drawings and specifications in an organized and reasonable manner.
  • Maintains and updates data library of costs.
  • Prepares cost reconciliation between two or more estimates and explains variance cost drivers.
  • Is familiar with estimating mode of measurements and process for rail and infrastructure.
  • Investigates and incorporates project constraints into cost analysis.
  • Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts/general conditions) at all levels of design.
Requirements:
  • Solid experience working directly with clients.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Consistent cost estimating experience with a strong focus on federal government and infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, quantity surveying, or a related field.
