Job Summary

This permanent position is with an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a wide range of assignments. The Board operates 2 administration buildings and 20 schools (18 elementary, 2 secondary) in 13 communities covering 7851 square kilometers for the welfare of 4,580 pupils. Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing an educational program in an integrated setting, emphasizing behaviour management, socialization skills, developmental of communication skills, and self-help skills.
  • Participate in program planning in close co-operation with the home setting and school.
  • Participate in assessment and treatment planning.
  • Maintain accurate daily records.
  • Provide supervision as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties.

Qualifications:

  • 2 or 3 year Community College Diploma in Educational Assistant, Autism and Behaviour Management or Developmental Services Worker or Youth Worker Program, Early Childhood Education, Social Services.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a school setting.
  • Candidates must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.

Preferred Assets:

  • BMS Training.
  • Qualifications and experience with Autism and Behaviour Science.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
  • Demonstrated peer leadership in a variety of school settings.
  • Experience working with individuals with ADHD/ODD.
  • Experience with assistive technology.
  • Self-motivated, critical thinking, with proven team skills and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
