Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will work under the direction of a Teacher to develop and implement an educational program in an integrated setting, emphasizing behavior management, socialization skills, developmental communication skills, and self-help skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and implementing an educational program in an integrated setting
  • Participate in program planning in close co-operation with the home setting and school
  • Maintain accurate daily records
  • Provide supervision as assigned
  • Other related duties
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a 2 or 3 year Community College Diploma in Educational Assistant, Autism and Behaviour Management, Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker Program, Early Childhood Education or Social Services. Candidates must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.

Requirements
  • Proven ability to deal with confidential information in a discrete manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be willing to enrol in CPR and First Aid as required
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Working knowledge of computers and relevant software programs
  • Willing to participate in ongoing learning
  • Be a member of the collaborative team
  • Capable of working with a wide variety of students with special needs
  • Demonstrated competency in oral and written communication skills
  • A broad knowledge of child development and teaching skills
Physical Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to perform intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting students. Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed to lift children, including bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing and pulling.
