Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support to students with special needs, ensuring their academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, adapting to their unique requirements and needs.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, lifting, and catheterization, while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Support students with autism, deaf/blindness, and other special needs, utilizing assistive technology and communication aids as necessary.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and behavior management systems, ensuring the well-being and safety of students and staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, using sign language and other communication strategies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and/or Behavior Management Systems (BMS) training.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, particularly those with autism, deaf/blindness, and other complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and move students as necessary, with training provided for catheterization and other procedures.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive hourly rate of $26.45 (plus 4% vacation pay) for term assignments less than the school year, or $28.54 per hour for full-year assignments.
