About the Role

Parsons is seeking an Electrical Designer to join their Markham office in Ontario, Canada, as part of their civil infrastructure group. The successful candidate will be part of a team working on projects involving roadways, bridges, transitways, municipal, and county arterial roads, side streets, multi-use pathways, and parking facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway lighting and traffic signal systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure electrical designs meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform lighting calculations, loading calculations, short circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations, and arc flash analysis calculations using AGI software.
  • Generate one-line diagrams, traffic signals, roadway lighting wiring diagrams, and electrical details.
  • Write and edit project construction specifications.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations, and punch lists.
  • Coordinate with electrical contractors and perform field inspections to ensure project compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and 1-3 years of related work experience.
  • Proficient in current electrical engineering theories and practices.
  • Professional Engineer registration is desired.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with MTO and other municipal agencies in Ontario.
  • Proficiency in AGI32 lighting design software.
  • Proficiency in performing voltage drop calculations, short circuit calculations, and arc flash analysis calculations.
  • Strong background in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
